Flower barrettes
In very little time, you can create tons of fun and pretty hair accessories. The same idea will work great for headbands too!
- Plain hair clips/barrettes from craft store
- Artificial flowers and other decorations you like (feathers, ribbons, sequins)
- Floral wire cutters
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Waxed paper
- Use wire cutters to remove the stem from the flower, and pull off any plastic that keeps the flower from laying flat.
- Warm up your hot glue, and cover your work surface to avoid a sticky mess. Clip a piece of waxed paper with the barrette to keep from gluing the two sides together.
- Let your creativity blossom! You can use one large flower for a big impact, or arrange several smaller ones on the barrette. If using several flowers, build your design from the bottom up, hot-gluing the base layer securely to the barrette.
Price each finished barrette at about $5–7. Look for opportunities to sell your creations at craft fairs in your school or at local offices or community events.
