Cinnamon ornaments

These festive, sweet-smelling ornaments make a great holiday activity or fundraiser. Make these ornaments while babysitting or hanging out with friends and relatives. What you'll need Start here
  • 3/4 Cup Water (or applesauce)
  • 1 Cup Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 Tablespoons White Glue
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves (optional)
  • Rolling pin
  • Measuring cups
  • Cookie sheet
  • Spatula
  • Decorating materials (glitter, glue, paint, etc.)
  • Hooks and/or colorful pipe-cleaners
  1. Mix dry ingredients then add wet ingredients.
  2. Mix to form stiff dough.
  3. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Cut with Cookie Cutters and make a hole for ribbon. (optional—push ornament hook into back of dough while wet).
  5. Carefully place on a rack or flat surface to dry. Let air dry for several days, turning occasionally. For quicker dry time—Bake on flat cookie sheet at 200 degrees for 2–3 hours depending on thickness. (Don’t forget to turn them over occasionally).
  6. Decorate your ornaments and add pipe cleaner “hooks.”
  7. Enjoy the holidays, and try selling your ornaments or give them as gifts!
